About the Series
Energy is humanity's single most important resource. “Power Trip: the Story of Energy,” directed by Mat Hames, is a 12-part, 12-hour-long documentary series. Cross-cutting themes include energy’s connections with economics, mobility, sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, quality of life, freedom, human rights, conservation, sustainability, climate change and environmental protection.
In season one of "Power Trip: The Story of Energy," audiences can learn how energy touches every aspect of our daily lives through six episodes: WATER, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, WEALTH, CITIES and SECURITY.
Season Two of "Power Trip" continues the journey through the past, present and future. Each one-hour episode uncovers the hidden energy embedded in our modern way of life, revealed as the underlying force that carries us to SPACE, causes large scale energy DISASTERS, transforms WORK, CULTURE, and ENTERTAINMENT, and drives GLOBALIZATION.
Filmed on multiple continents, this documentary series traces the rise of modern forms of energy and the transformation of everything it touches. Energy is at a crossroads and the stakes are high, but history shows us that energy’s great value is that it allows societies to reinvent themselves.
With interviews from global leaders, experts, and popular authors and academics, the series aims to teach broad public audiences about energy’s history by using straightforward examples, cultural references, myth busting and humor to draw audiences into this complex and often confusing subject.
"Power Trip" leaves viewers with historical context, a global perspective and a positive vision to inspire the next generation of energy innovators.
